Architecture is one of my favorite subjects to photograph. I love the lines and geometry, the contrast of old and new, and the way the light and shadows can change the appearance. I wander through alleys, old warehouses and even everyday streets looking for something unusual.

City vistas to me are just as interesting and beautiful as natural landscapes. They show the structures, people and nature all in one, and I think they have a tangible vibrancy. These are images of the cities I've lived in and some of my favorites to visit.

Working in photojournalism taught me to refine the ability to capture the precise moment. When the wave hits, when a person finally turns your way, when the runner hits full stride, when the composition suddenly balances itself in front of you. These are some of my favorite photos and the hardest to come by.

I ventured to the city of Boston for college and never ended up leaving. Its combination of East Coast excitement and small town neighborhoods quickly grows on you. And its history, streets and buildings left over from an older era are the source of endless subjects for my camera.

After graduating from Boston University with a degree in Photojournalism, I worked for the metro unit of Gatehouse Media's weekly newspaper group.
I covered everything: sports, news, community events, concerts, features and everything in between. It took me to new places and introduced me to new people everyday. I came away with a stronger portfolio and respect for those who cover the daily lives of small towns.

Most online journalism is trending toward video, but I still love audio slideshows. The power of a still photo continues to draw people in, while the audio advances the narrative. These were all produced during my time with the weekly newspapers in the communities surrounding Boston.

I've taken several trips now to different parts of the Southwest. Originally expecting repetitive landscapes of desert and flat plains, I was met with variety and color. The vistas and architecture have a unique character, but the images have seamlessly fit in with the rest of my work. The same lines and contrasts found in old warehouses and streets can also be seen in fallen fences and rock formations.

I grew up taking long road trips across the country, and that's where my love of documenting unique landmarks began. Some of these photos are well-known attractions, some represent the regional landscape, but all are different from what I see everyday.
